Harvest Card
Here's a sneak peak at one of the many exciting projects created by designer Robyn Sharp especially for the Simply Southern Scrapbook Convention and Paper Arts Expo to be held October 4, 5 and 6, 2007 in Huntsville, Alabama. |
Autumn Floral Cards
Dressed in the rich colors of autumn, this charming trio of cards sports fabric flowers crowned with button centers. A scallop-edged border mimics the flower petals, while a simple stitched border and glittery sentiments provide the finishing touches to beautifully capture the spirit of the fall season. |
Simple Flower Cards
A simple flower shape was the inspiration behind the collection of cards featured here. Three of the cards share the same basic design of a flower, stem, and leaves centered on the card front, while three other cards use one single flower presented in a variety of ways. As you can see, the design elements offer many options, but all provide the same results…a personal sentiment that shows you care. |
Fall Image Cards
Dressed in seasonal colors, the elegant cards featured here all share one thing in common…careful attention to small details adding a special sense of style. Small dots of bead paint resembling fresh water pearls accentuate pewter buttons, scalloped borders, and flower centers, while easy layering techniques provide sophisticated refinement. Each card is artistically finished with great care and could easily be set in a frame and used as wall art. |
Perfect Pop-Up Cards
There’s something special about pop-up cards. The element of surprise when the card is opened adds so much more than a simply worded “happy birthday” or other greeting. Although pop-up cards may look complicated, Hot Off The Press designers Laura Nicholas and LeNae Gerig provide a simple way to make these fun cards. Take a look! |
Halloween Pop-Up Cards
These glittery three-dimensional stickers and Fright Night brads from K&Company possess all the charm needed to send your favorite “ghoul” a Halloween greeting. |
Altered Pumpkin
Knowing the right spells easily transforms a plain metal pumpkin into a spirited Halloween decoration like the one shown here. All you need are scissors and glue and…Abracadabra - it’s paper magic! |
Fright Night Greetings
Carved pumpkins, bats, witches, and spiders are universally recognized symbols of Halloween. The cards featured here and on the following page make the most of celebrating this popular holiday by incorporating easy-to-use stickers, pre-printed papers, and cut-outs. |
Enchanted Glitter Fairies
Magic is always afoot when fairies make an appearance. Arriving on glittered wings accompanied by the sweet tinkling of bells, they sprinkle magical fairy dust before they disappear from sight. It’s been said that if you’re lucky enough to see one and ask for a wish, it will be granted. |
Jack-O-Lantern Album
It’s easy to brew up three-dimensional paper effects when you know what’s cookin’. The trick behind this puffed-up jack-o-lantern is this – quilt batting was slipped between two pieces of heavyweight paper, then stitched and painted a cheery orange. A hint of red ink to rouge Mr. Jack's cheeks and a dab of black ink to distress around the edges are the other ingredients that make this Halloween recipe frightfully good. |
Witches Shoes Invitation, Box,
Trick-or-Treat Bag, and
Fright Night Fun! Photo Frame
Go all out this Halloween and plan a fright night party that all your guests will remember. Rather than using a mere mortal envelope, a bewitching box was decorated for sending the Witches Shoe invitation. The box can be reused later to store a matching photo frame keepsake. Coordinated trick-or-treat bags make great party favors especially when filled with your favorite Halloween goodies. |

Beeswax Batik Cards
Considered both an art and a craft, batik is a method of using wax and dyes to create a design on cloth. Selected areas of the cloth are first blocked out by brushing hot wax over them, preserving the original color of the cloth underneath. The cloth is then dyed. When the wax is removed, the original color of the cloth becomes part of the finished design. |
Peeled Paint Cards
This appealing technique is surprisingly quick and easy to do. All that's required is a little paint and Vaseline! Simply select a background of choice, cover with Vaseline and paint, and then rub away to achieve beautifully distressed and nostalgic cards like those featured here. You can also use rubber stamps, stickers, rub-ons, or other media to create original backgrounds as desired. |
The Magical World of Wizards
and Witches
Ancient Spell Vials
No ghoulish table set for Fright Night would be complete without a favor or two. Follow the spells provided to easily transform the most common-place vial into a work of wizardry delight. Fill with your favorite brew or recipe and let the magic begin!
Green “Ghouly” Card
Monsters are notorious for scaring up fun any way they can, and this little green goblin is howling to get started. Even though this one won’t bite or scream when you open its mouth, you might be in for another type of spooky trick or surprising treat. Consider yourself warned…proceed at your own risk…you might just get licked!
Cheeky Monster Box
Monsters, especially those inhabiting the world of magic, are peculiar in every way and must be handled with great care. Changing shape can be a matter of biological conditioning or, as it is in most cases, the result of a wizard’s spell. The monster box featured here looks tame enough, but if you have any doubts, it's best to watch out for your fingers when opening. It just might bite!
Charmingly Wicked Cards,
Box, and Magical Wand
A wand is the most important tool a witch or wizard can own. It's the resting place for mysterious secrets and powerful spells. Used creatively, a wand can produce extraordinary results like the charmingly wicked Halloween cards that you see here. And, if you just happen to be a very crafty witch, you can zap up a magical box in which to store not only the cards but the wand as well. Now, isn't that just “wanderful”? |
