Embossed Accents for Cards and Tags
When your design requires a textured surface, embossing provides a number of options. The piece can be dry-embossed with the use of a template or heat-embossed with specialized ink and powder. Metal embossing or repoussé is a terrific way to create customized embellishments for cards, tags, and gifts. We have all the bases covered as the projects featured here illustrate the application of each embossing technique, providing both guidelines and inspiration for dimensional projects of your own. |
Doodled Dandies – Fake it with Stamps
With all the swirl, flourish, and doodle-type rubber stamps available now, even non-doodlers like me can get the doodled look. For the cards featured here, we’ll be using stamps to create the basic design and then adding a few hand drawn touches to complete the look while other fakes include patterned paper and rub-ons. “It’s really easy to do,” comments designer Rebecca Peck who created both the Wishing You Blue Skies and Best Friends cards. “When I first heard about the doodling trend, I thought, “Well, that’s one trend I won’t be following. I can’t draw my way out of a paper bag!” Then, I realized, “That’s why I rubber stamp. I can fake it!” |
Rosa
No other flower is as much beloved, revered, and honored as the rose. One of the world’s most popular and well-known flowers, the rose symbolizes love in its purest form. The collection of rose cards featured here are beautiful in both imagery and sentiment and employ a variety of techniques showcasing this lovely flower. |
Boxed Butterfly
This jeweled summer butterfly nestles in a coordinating lavender presentation box waiting to express a beautiful sentiment written by Louise Driscoll, “With your heart keep one, still, secret spot where dreams may go.” Open the box and the greeting unfolds into a delightful concertina fold card. The box instructions provided can be altered to fit any size card and would make a perfect wrapper for a scarf or book. |
